Harry Karlinsky, M.D., M.Sc., FRCPC Medical Director of BC Physician Integration Program Harry Karlinsky obtained his MD from the University of Manitoba, his specialty degree in Geriatric Psychiatry from the University of Toronto and his Masters in Neuroscience degree from the University of London, England. Currently he is a Clinical Professor and the Medical Director of the BC Physician Integration Program within the Division of Continuing Professional Development at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Karlinsky is also the Coordinator of Medical Education and Professional Development for Richmond Mental Health Services. Dr. Karlinsky has a long involvement with various professional and public education initiatives. One of his current activities is directed towards how the use of films can enhance education in mental health. Dr. Karlinsky is the founding and ongoing Director of the award-winning Frames of Mind Mental Health Film Series and Festival and writes a film column for the Canadian Psychiatric Association publication Canadian Psychiatry Aujourd’hui. Honours include Baycrest Hospital's Munk Geriatric Award; a Clinical Traineeship Award from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; a Lady Davis Visiting Professor Fellowship, Technion University, Israel; the 2003 CPA/COPCE Award for outstanding Continuing Medical Education (CME) Activity within Canada; the 2004 Lil Hewton Bursary Award to conduct archival research related to the history of psychiatry, and the inaugural UBC Faculty of Medicine Innovation in CME award. In addition to numerous published papers, he has been a co-editor of two books related to Alzheimer's disease as well as the principal author of a number of CD-ROMs related to Alzheimer’s disease and patient rights.
