Winners of 2011 UBC CPD/CME Educational Research Grants:

It is with great pride that we announce the recipients of our 2011 UBC CPD/CME Educational Research Grant for Specialty and Family Practice Residents: Dr. Jody Dans, Dr. Sheliza Amarsi, Dr. Aaron Knox and Dr. Steven Schendel.

UBC CPD/CME Educational Research Grant for Family Practice Residents:
Dr. Jody Dans and Dr. Sheliza Amarsi
from the Department of Family Practice for the project titled “Cervical Examination in Labour: Simulated Model for Learning – Assessing Family Medicine Residents’ Cervical Dilatation Accuracy and Confidence in Comparison to Obstetrical Nurses”,

UBC CPD/CME Educational Research Grant for Specialty Residents:
Dr. Aaron Knox
from the Department of Plastic Surgery for the project titled “Use of gaming technology to teach the millennial Plastic Surgery residents fundamental surgical skills”, and

Dr. Steven Schendel from the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences for the project titled “Comparison of Emergency Physician Ophthalmic Examination Findings to Ophthalmologists - Addressing Needs in Teaching”.

UBC CPD/CME Educational Research Grants for Residents are awarded for exceptional medical education research in the area of continuing medical education. The awards are presented to Residents affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine Postgrad Program to acknowledge research work in the field of continuing medical education.

The purpose of the UBC CPD/CME Educational Research grant is to: 1) provide yearly support for educational research for UBC residents in Specialty and Family Practice programs, 2) to recognize original continuing education research work by postgraduate trainees, and 3) raise awareness and interest in the field of continuing medical educational (CME/CPD) research.

The Division of UBC CPD congratulates you for your work and thanks you for your application for this grant. We hope that these funds will help you complete your research project from qualitative data collection to publication.
