The University of British Columbia Division of Continuing Professional Development  at UBC (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Education (CACME) and, by reciprocity, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) of the United States to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. NOTE: Please review our updated Commercial Support Guidelines before submitting an application and visit this link for updates on the application process.

Processing time is now: 4-6 weeks.

Please note post-event approval is not permitted. 


Checklist for application of CME study credits for your event
:

1. Application fees - pertaining to each type of study credit requested. Non-refundable; must be received before application is reviewed

2. Essential Information Form - all applicants must fill out this form

3. Application form for each type of credit requested - Click on the following links to download the application forms for the following credit types:

  • MOC Section - Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) credit for specialists *NEW: VIEW UPDATE for Ethical Standards documentation required*
  • Mainpro M1 - College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) credit for family physicians 
  • AMA PRA Category 1 - American Medical Association (AMA) credit for American physicians

Online CPD must meet the same criteria as live CPD events in order to be accredited, as well as these additional requirements for MOC Section 1 - CPD online, Mainpro M1 - CPD online


4. Budget - please disclose funding sources (with or without industry sponsorship), revenue and expenditures

5. Evaluation form - must include a question pertaining to perceived industry bias

6. Detailed program of event including learner-centered objectives for each session, speakers, topics, start and end times, question and answer/discussion periods, breaks, social events, website link for registration, etc. Please indicate for which sessions accreditation is being requested.

7. Program Brochure (indicating draft or final copy)

8. Registration Form (indicating draft or final copy)

Avoid using staples please - we just have to remove them all - thank you!

Commercial Support Guidelines and Conflict of Interest Disclosure

UBC has
recently adopted a set of guidelines governing the Division's interaction with industry groups.  The following document outlines the guiding principles pertaining to the support of UBC Division of Continuing Medical Education activities (including but not restricted to courses, conferences, workshops, continuing education of approved rounds, internet courses and the production of learning resources, e.g. CD ROM or videotape) by commercial sponsors (e.g. pharmaceutical companies, instrument and device manufacturers).  These guidelines apply to all programs accredited by UBC CPD.  CMA Policy: Guidelines for Physicians in Interactions with Industry (2007),  UBC CPD Commercial Support Guidelines, UBC CPD Policy on Conflict Of Interest Disclosure (Sample Speaker/Planner Disclosure Form)
