ACCREDITATION APPLICATIONS
Jan 2012
– MOC Section 1 application - Ethical Standards Documentation
Please note that, as below, the Royal College MOC Section 1
application form has been updated. The latest form is on the main
accreditation page. Please make a note that in your future applications, especially if there is industry funding, documentation for ethical standards (Part C) may be requested,
including: - Documentation (eg. meeting minutes) describing the process by which the topics, content and speakers were selected for this event
- A copy of the disclosure form
- Documentation (eg. meeting minutes) of the planning committee where the disclosures were discussed. For example, "All disclosure forms have been received. The committee determined that there were no conflicts of interest" or” The committee identified a potential conflict of interest in the case of Dr. X. The committee decided to manage the conflict by ______"
- How participants are informed of speakers’ disclosures (eg. syllabus, 2nd slide)
- A copy of the letter/email sent to speakers describing the process to advocate the use of generic rather than trade names
Aug 2011
– MOC Section 1 application - updated
The Royal College has developed a new MOC Program (and corresponding MAINPORT web application) which delivers a more streamlined and user-friendly experience for Fellows and Health Care Professionals. The new credit system is arranged under three learning sections instead of the former six, and is designed to put participants at the center of their professional development. The new sections can be viewed here: http://rcpsc.medical.org/opa/moc-program/documents/MOC_Insert_Flyer_ENG.pdf To reflect this change, the Royal College has updated the MOC Section 1 application form. The latest form is on the main accreditation page.
May 2011 – UBC CPD Policy on Conflict Of Interest Disclosure Conflict of Interest disclosure is now a requirement across North America. Please view our new UBC CPD Policy on Conflict Of Interest Disclosure (also on the main accreditation page).
September 2010 – Increased Security of Payment Options Due to enhanced security measures by UBC to protect credit card information, we are no
longer able to receive credit card numbers via email. Sending an email to UBC that contains credit
card information will be bounced back starting in early 2011. Please call
JoAnna Cassie directly with payment information and a receipt will be provided.
June 2010 - CPD Disclosure Guidelines It has become increasingly important to Continuing Medical Education/Continuing
Professional Development (“CME/CPD”) planners and participants that there is
full disclosure and if feasible, resolution of any competing interests with
respect to information being presented at a CME/CPD event. As required by the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, we are asking all presenters/program
planners to disclose all industry financial relationships for the 2 year period prior to a CME activity, not
just those relevant to the subject being discussed. Please list any
affiliation (financial or otherwise) that you have with a commercial or other
industry interest; also please include
any commercial affiliation that your
spouse or close family members have with respect to information being presented
at a CME event.
January 2010 - CPD Commercial Support Guidelines The RCPSC has declared that as of January 2010, the term “satellite symposium” will be restricted
to unaccredited group learning events (Section 2), and that satellite symposia should
not be listed or included within conference brochures or schedules.
