Conference Overview:

The Division of Emergency Medicine at BC Children’s Hospital and UBC Continuing Professional Development present the 9th Annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Update for Pediatricians and Emergency Physicians. This 2-day conference highlights the latest trends in the practice of pediatric emergency medicine in urban and rural settings.

The University of British Columbia Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) to provide study credits for continuing medical education for physicians.  As well, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education of the United States (ACCME) maintains a reciprocity relationship with CACME which the American Medical Association (AMA) recognizes for the purpose of allowing Canadian medical schools the ability to certify activities for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM and to award such credits to eligible physicians. This program has been reviewed and approved by the UBC Division of Continuing Professional Development.  UBC CPD designates this educational program as meeting the accreditation criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 13 MAINPRO M1 credits.  This program is an Accredited Group Learning Activity eligible for up to 13 MOC Section 1 credits as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This program also meets the accreditation criteria for a maximum of 13 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM credits toward the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award. 

APLS:

APLS is recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Royal College) as a Traineeship within the MOC Program, Section 2: Self-Learning. Currently, APLS is not accredited for Mainpro credits; however, if a physician were to attend the course, he/she would have the option of submitting a Request for Individual Consideration to receive Mainpro M1 credits. The American College of Emergency Physicians is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.   The American College of Emergency Physicians designates this live activity for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
