Conference Overview: The Trauma Association of Canada (TAC) hosts Canada’s premier multidisciplinary conference on trauma. The 2012 program will feature a wide range of educational activities, including debates on controversial topics, challenging case presentations, special interest group meetings, clinical updates, open paper and poster sessions, and special symposia. The non-scientific portion of the meeting includes an Opening Reception and a conference dinner in the historic Distillery District.

Pre-Conference Workshops: DI Report Writing Workshop Tuesday, April 10, 2012 0800 - 1500 Hilton Toronto
This training will include introduction to the DI Report Writer, new features, and advanced applications including outputs to Microsoft Excel and MS Access using real world examples. Registration for TRISC members is $50.00; registration for non-TRISC members is $75.00 per person, and includes refreshments and lunch. TOPIC Saturday, April 14, 2012 0930 - 1630 Hilton Toronto
The intended participants of the TOPIC course are all members of the trauma system team who participate in the ongoing assessment, evaluation and improvement of trauma care (Data Registrars, Nurses, Coordinators, Trauma Physicians, etc.) The course focuses on the ongoing assessment of the continuum of trauma care with a structured review of process and trauma patient outcomes. The TOPIC course is taught in a one day interactive modular format. The course offers practical application for all Levels of trauma centres, from entry level to mature phase of program development. The Modules are taught with a focus on didactic, operational definitions, sample tools, case study examples and take home points. The content of this TOPIC course will be focused on the Canadian perspective and will be led by the TAC-PIPS Co-Chairs, as well as faculty from the Society of Trauma Nurses.
