Course work includes:
1. Completing a pre-course prescription pad for one month and a pre-course survey prior to attending the course
2. Attending a full day course on November 19th which will include a didactic and interactive presentation, quizzes and case studies.
3. Completing a post-course prescription pad for one month and completing a post-course survey and reflective exercise
Goals:
1. Increase awareness of antimicrobial resistance; discuss strategies to reduce resistance.
2. Reduce inappropriate use of antibiotics in treatment of pharyngitis
3. Increase accuracy of diagnosis of acute otitis media
4. Optimize management of acute otitis media
5. Reduce antibiotic use for treatment of myringitis and otitis media with effusion
6. Increase accuracy of diagnosis and optimize management of sinusitis
7. Reduce antibiotic use in ill-defined URTI
8. Minimize antibiotic use in treatment of acute bronchitis
9. Optimize prevention, management and use of antibiotics in treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (AECB)
